Stephanie Foster, MD, PhD
Biography
Dr. Foster joined the residency and Research Training Program from Emory University School of Medicine’s Medical Scientist Training Program. Prior to medical school, she worked as the IRB and Regulatory Coordinator for the Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health, which conducted various public health-related studies in collaboration with Native American communities. In a combined MD/PhD program at Emory, Dr. Foster completed her PhD in Neuroscience in the lab of Dr. David Weinshenker, studying how the neuropeptide galanin modulates the behavioral effects of opioids in animal models of opioid use disorder. Dr. Foster published 9 papers during her PhD and secured a grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse for her thesis work. She is interested in addiction psychiatry and plans to pursue clinical research focusing on opioid use disorder and MAT in human subjects during residency.
