Interview

Interviews are by invitation only and are a prerequisite for matching to our program.

Scheduling

The ERAS post office opens on September 25. As soon as it opens, we begin reviewing applications, selecting applicants, and offering interviews from October through December. Interviews are by invitation only and are a prerequisite for matching to our program. If we are able to offer you an interview, you will be contacted through email. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule in arranging an interview. The earlier we receive your ERAS application the more likely we will be able to offer you an interview slot of your choice.

Interview Day

Consistent with the request from AAMC, all interviews for the 2025-26 season will be a virtual format. No applicants, including local applicants, will have in-person interviews or tours.

On interview day, applicants receive presentations on the program and have an opportunity to talk with faculty members and residents. The day consists of overviews on the program from the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior; Chief Residents; the Training Directors; and the Directors of Research and Psychotherapy. Your afternoon consists of a series of interviews with both faculty and residents.

Two interview days have a special focus on the NIMH-funded Research Track and our various research opportunities during residency. This day also includes an overview of the program.

The residency program will host a virtual meet-and-greet on the Sundays prior to all interview days where you will be able to meet and mingle with residents.

For the convenience of our applicants, we use Thalamus, a web-based self-scheduling software program. We DO NOT extend more interview offers than the total number of interview slots. We DO NOT overbook applicants for interviews and engage in a "first come, first serve" approach to recruitment. We will provide a MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS to accept or reject an interview offer.

In Person Second Look: 2025-2026 Interview Season
Similar to last year, we are planning to hold an in person second look. The second look will take place AFTER our rank list has been submitted and therefore will NOT impact our rank list or order. We will post the date of our second look shortly.

RSVPs for the second look will occur between December 2025-January 2026, and RSVPs will be submitted to a resident not involved with interviewing or applicant selection. Emails with more details about the visit and the RSVP process will be sent in December.
