Butler Hospital

Butler Hospital is the state's only private adult/adolescent psychiatric hospital. It was established in 1844 as the first hospital in Rhode Island. Its first superintendent, Dr. Isaac Ray, was a founder of the American Psychiatric Association and two of his successors served as presidents of that organization.

Bradley Hospital

Emma Pendleton Bradley Hospital is a private, nonprofit, 60-bed psychiatric hospital for children and youth living with psychiatric illness. It is located on 40 acres of attractive woodland facing Narragansett Bay, and is a 10-minute drive from the Brown University campus.

Hasbro Children's Hospital

A division of Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children’s Hospital is a premier provider of pediatric clinical care and has the only pediatric emergency department, Level 1 Trauma Center, pediatric critical care teams, and 24-hour ambulance in the region. The hospital offers a broad spectrum of both routine care and specialty programs.

The Miriam Hospital

The Miriam Hospital, originally chartered by a group of Rhode Island women in 1907, has grown to a 247-bed general medical, surgical, and special service hospital with an active outpatient department, facilities for open-heart surgery, renal dialysis, and a nuclear medicine department. The Department of Psychiatry at the Miriam Hospital is known for its strong consultation/liaison and geriatric psychiatry service lines.

Rhode Island Hospital

Rhode Island Hospital is a 719-bed general medical hospital and a major teaching setting for the Medical School. The Department of Psychiatry has well-developed programs emphasizing the interface of psychiatry with other medical specialties. There is a 20-bed medical psychiatry unit organized for the diagnosis and management of patients with combined medical/psychiatric illnesses.

Providence VA Medical Center

The Providence VA Medical Center provides a full range of health care services to veterans in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. The facility has an active Mental Health Service, including an inpatient unit, outpatient clinic, substance abuse treatment programs, a homeless patient-aligned care team, a suicide-prevention and response program, and emergency care services.

Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island

Women & Infants is one of the premier health care facilities for women in the country and a major teaching affiliate of the Medical School for obstetrics, gynecology, and newborn pediatrics.
