Marisa Hollinshead, MD
Biography
Dr. Hollinshead joined the residency and Research Training Program from the Northeast Ohio Medical University and Cleveland State University (NEOMED-CSU) Partnership for Urban Health, a program to train physicians who are committed to working with historically underserved populations. In parallel with her medical training, Marisa worked as a member of the research team at the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods (PRCHN) at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. As a member of the PRCHN, she served as Co-Investigator on a community-based research project that explored the mental health needs of Latinx adolescents within Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to medical school, Dr. Hollinshead was a research manager at the Center for Brain Science at Harvard University. At the Center, she worked with Randy Buckner, PhD utilizing neuroimaging, genetic, and behavioral methods to study psychiatric illness and properties of brain structure and function that convey risk for disease. While working with Dr. Buckner she also led a project focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Hollinshead has co-authored 12 publications from previous work. At Brown, Dr. Hollinshead is working with Dr. Duarté-Vélez, and collaborators at the PRCHN, on further analysis of the focus groups and interviews on Latinx youth mental health. Dr. Hollinshead will be presenting her work at the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) and is in the process of submitting a manuscript for publication.
