Daniella Palermo, MD
Biography
Daniella Palermo, MD, is the Curriculum Director for the Brown University General Psychiatry Residency Program. She is Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior.
Dr. Palermo graduated from the SUNY Upstate Medical University where she was the recipient of the Chancellor's Award for Excellence. She continued her training in the Brown Psychiatry Residency Training Program where she was Chief Resident and the recipient of the Martin B. Keller Excellence in Psychiatry Award. She joined the Brown faculty in 2018 and served as Assistant Curriculum Director through 2021. Dr. Palermo has been involved in both medical student as well as resident education and was a 2020-2021 recipient of the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award for Alpert Medical School.
Dr. Palermo has a history, personally and professionally, of advocating for underrepresented communities and has served as an appointed member of the Rhode Island Commission for Health Advocacy and Equity, which informs state-wide policy to address health disparities. At Brown, she has been instrumental in promoting an inclusive, racially-just learning environment that provides trainees with fundamental teachings of cultural humility, structural competency and anti-racism.
