Julie Hugunin, MD, PhD
Biography
Dr. Hugunin joined the residency and Research Training Program from the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School where she used stakeholder engagement and a mixed method design to examine patterns of healthcare utilization in youth and young adults with mental health conditions; this work was done under the mentorship of Kate Lapane, PhD and with significant guidance by Maryann Davis, PhD, Celine Larkin, PhD, and Brian Skehan, MD, PhD. During her MD/PhD training, Dr. Hugunin published 6 first-authored and 2 co-authored manuscripts, served a term as the vice chair for the Massachusetts Medical Society Committee on Mental Health and Substance Use, and was honored to be chosen as the 2024 class speaker for the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. She is interested in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and plans to pursue clinical research focusing on integrated care and implementation science during residency. Dr. Hugunin will be mentored by Dr. Larry Brown and Dr. Laura Whiteley during her psychiatry training at Brown.
