She serves as Associate Director of the Brown General Psychiatry Residency Program, VA Site Director, and Curriculum Associate Director. She is also an Investigator and Staff Psychiatrist at the Center for Neurorestoration and Neurotechnology at the VA Providence Healthcare System.
Dr. Cosmo received her medical degree from Faculdade de Medicina da Bahia in Brazil and completed her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Neurophysiology/Neuropsychiatry at the Universidade Federal da Bahia through a collaborative program with Harvard Medical School. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuromodulation at Harvard. For nearly a decade, Dr. Cosmo’s research has examined the mechanisms and clinical application of noninvasive neuromodulation techniques, particularly repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation, in neuropsychiatric disorders. Her work focuses on targeting impulsivity and its neural substrates, with a particular interest in developing novel brain stimulation protocols for disorders marked by impaired inhibitory control, such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
As a dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Cosmo is committed to cultivating a collaborative and inclusive training environment that promotes the development of the next generation of psychiatric clinicians and physician-scientists.
